CET MAR Aquarium

Visit The Center for Technological Sea Studies and Aqua Culture aka: CET MAR Aquarium.

This is a great place for the entire family and one of our favorite places to visit. It's an interesting aquarium exhibition that features native species of the intertidal zone and the northern gulf coast. There you can feed sea lions and feed squid to sea turtles. The sea lions will poke their heads through the enclosure and allow you to pet and feed them. I don't know if it's a routine practice, but for a $5 donation per person you can enter the sea lion enclosure and pet them and take pictures with them.

Open 10:00 to 3:00 on Mon-Fri, 10:00 to 6:00 on Sat-Sun. Cost: Adults $2.00, Children $1.00.

Directions: Take Fremont Blvd toward Las Conchas. Aquarium is just past the school on the right, watch for signs.

Important! If you find carcasses and bones of marine mammals, do not disturb them. It is a violation of the U.S. Marine Mammal Protection Act to take marine mammal bones into the United States. Both Mexican and U.S. laws protect the carcasses of marine mammals.

Animal Adoption Center

Rocky Point Animal Adoption Center.

Save a life get a new best friend. The Rocky Point Animal Adoption Center is a non-profit animal shelter that houses and cares for stray animals in Rocky Point, Mexico. They run solely on donations and are in need of donations of wet & dry dog and cat food, cat litter, medical supplies, and monetary donations for spaying and neutering. Any help you can provide is greatly appreciated.

Nancy Phelan is the caretaker of many orphaned animals. For the past four+ years, Nancy has cared for, spayed, neutered and adopted 100's of strays that find their way or are dumped off. She is a former Arizona resident who decided to make a better life for the animals in Rocky Point. Take a few minutes to stop by and say "hello" and be sure to bring some pet food or pet care items. The wonderful people of Rocky Point and the U.S. have contributed food, money, medicine and time. When funds are scarce, Nancy uses her own money to pay for whatever is needed. With your help and support, we can make Rocky Place a better place for animals. Feel welcome to email Nancy at: nancy_phelan@yahoo.com or call from the U.S. 011-52-638-383-1012.

Open: Everyday Except Wednesday.

Directions: Take Blvd. Benito Juarez to (The Electric Company) is on the corner. Go down 3 blocks, the shelter is on the left.

To Spay or Not to Spay?

Spaying is common sense. The cost of spaying your dog is about the price of a tune-up for your vehicle. When you compare the cost of vet bills and food for a litter of unwanted pups, spaying your pet is quite a bargain.

Traveling with Pets:

(Dogs & Cats Only) Bring a valid U.S. Veterinarian Health Certificate Form & Rabies Certificate # 77043 (not more than 6 months old). Any vet should be able to provide these for you. While many people tell you they have never had a problem bringing their pet back and forth across the border, we recommend you get these certificates. Most border crossings won't give you a hard time about it. But, if they do (and they have the right to) they can hold/quarantine your pet which is both traumatic and expensive. So please, get the forms! It's better to be safe than sorry.
