Have an insurance
or financial question
regarding your trip to Rocky Point?

Insurance
You MUST purchase
Mexican Insurance.
Auto accidents in Mexico are subject to
the laws of Mexico only, not the laws of the United States.
The major difference is, in Mexico, it is considered a CRIMINAL
OFFENSE as well as a civil matter, if you are involved in
an auto accident. Therefore, if you do not have Mexican
auto insurance, your vehicle will be impounded, you may
spend many hours in jail or longer, as well as receive monetary
fines.
You should always consider purchasing auto
coverage from a licensed Mexico Insurance company before
driving into Mexico.
Trailers
in Tow: If you are
towing a trailer, be sure your auto policy specifically
shows the trailer on the policy. If it does not specifically
state the vehicle and have the proper vin #, the ENTIRE
policy will be considered null and void.
You can purchase Mexico insurance on line
and you need to purchase insurance before you cross the
border. Be sure to read the fine print. Insurance normally
runs about $25-$40 per day and cost depends on the value
of your vehicle and based on length of stay.
If you plan on visiting Rocky
Point Mexico more than a couple times a year, you might
want to check into an annual policy instead of purchasing
insurance for each visit.
